Women’s GORE-TEX Jacket at Arc’teryx
GORE-TEX keeps rain and wind out while letting sweat vapour escape, and the women’s range applies it across cropped day-hike jackets, mountain jackets and warmer parkas. The cut and the backer change how a jacket feels on the trail, so start with what you will be doing in it. In Australia that can mean a humid summer storm on the east coast one weekend and a cold, wet ridgeline in Tasmania the next.
Is a women’s GORE-TEX jacket good for day hikes and humid storms?
The Naya Cropped Jacket has a next-to-skin backer engineered for breathability in humid summer storms, plus a cinching hem. The Altira Cropped Jacket is a relaxed-fit hardshell with relaxed shoulders and back pleats for freedom of movement on the trail. The Liatris Jacket has WaterTight zippers on its chest pockets to protect a phone, and a relaxed fit with room for layers. Compare them in our women’s rain jacket range or the women’s waterproof hiking jackets.
Which women’s GORE-TEX jacket suits cold, wet days, the Liatris or the Patera Parka?
The Liatris Down Jacket pairs GORE-TEX with 850 fill European goose down held in place by stitch-free bonded baffles, and the Liatris Down Parka adds length with an insulated hood and collar. The Patera Parka uses goose down with Coreloft synthetic insulation in moisture-prone areas, including the hood, and gaskets at the neck and cuffs that seal out drafts. Choose these when you will be standing around in the cold, such as at camp. See our women’s down jackets.
Should I choose the Norvan, Alpha SL Anorak or Beta SL for a lightweight GORE-TEX jacket?
The Norvan Jacket is an ultralight, highly breathable GORE-TEX jacket for mountain and trail running in the wet, with vents under the arms, a hood with a small brim and a stowable zippered hip pocket. The Alpha SL Anorak uses a three-quarter zip to cut weight and bulk under a harness, and the Beta SL is our lightest Beta, with pit zippers and a helmet-compatible StormHood. For lighter layers, see our women’s shell jackets.
Women’s GORE-TEX Jacket FAQs
Is a women’s GORE-TEX jacket worth it for hiking?
If you walk in sustained rain or humid storms, yes. GORE-TEX keeps water out and lets sweat vapour escape, and a jacket like the Naya Cropped adds a backer built for breathability in humid weather. If you run warm, the Norvan Jacket’s underarm vents help. For short, dry walks a lighter women’s hiking jacket is enough, with women’s waterproof hiking pants added when it turns wet.
Which women’s GORE-TEX jacket works as an everyday rain coat?
The Ifora is an all-season GORE-TEX jacket for rainy city days, with a structured oversized fit, a vented back and an adjustable full-coverage hood, which matters most in wind-driven rain. The Liatris adds hip pockets and flapped side pockets for a day’s essentials. Both leave room over a women’s fleece jacket.
Is there a longer women’s GORE-TEX jacket?
Yes. The Beta Coat is a thigh-length GORE-TEX jacket with an adjustable DropHood and a two-way front zip that frees your stride under a pack hipbelt, and its length lines up with longer midlayers. If you prefer a shorter cut, the Naya Cropped Jacket and the Altira Cropped Jacket both stay cropped.
What is a 3-layer GORE-TEX jacket?
A 3-layer GORE-TEX jacket bonds a face fabric, the GORE-TEX membrane and an inner backer into one fabric. The Beta Jacket pairs an 80D face with a C-KNIT backer for comfort, and the Liatris Jacket uses the same C-KNIT backer in a relaxed fit.
